The Massachusetts Senate has 34 Democrats and 6 Republicans. The election will be on November 7, 2006. The Democrats currently hold a supermajority. To take control of the house, Republicans would need to pick up 14 seats, or 8 seats to break the supermajority.[1][2]
The 2006 Massachusetts House election is scheduled for the same date as the Senate election, as well as Federal and Gubernatorial elections (see Massachusetts general election, 2006).
Massachusetts Senators serve two-year terms.[3]
