[edit] Ships in Homeworld 2
This is a detailed list of vessels featured in the video game Homeworld 2. Please do not include any information about modifications or player-specific things.
[edit] Hiigaran
The Hiigaran race is an organised and cunning military behemoth, with ships that are good at their job and quite good at things that aren't meant for. These ships usually live up to their designation. Hiigarans favor long-range combat and heavily armored ships that can make their presence known on the battlefield.
[edit] Utility Ships
- Resource Collectors
Resource Collectors are the workhorse of the Hiigaran fleet, being the only ship chassis with the ability to harvest raw material from asteroids or salvage.
- Mobile Refinery
Useful for remote resourcing operations where there are no resource-deposit facilities, the Mobile Refinery is a small, frigate-sized vessel that can effectively stop such shortcomings.
- Probe
A small, automated ship, a Probe is a sensor array packed into a tiny ship chassis and powerful, one-shot engine to allow it to reach its target destination. When deployed, the Probe will broadcast readings from its wide field of view back to the Mothership.
- Proximity Sensor
A Proximity Sensor is a small, automated capsule that emits a high-speed signal that, when coming in contact with something, reflects back into the Sensor's signal dish. This allows the Proximity Sensor to broadcast readings about cloaked ships in a large area.
- Sensor Distortion Probe
A Sensor Distortion Probe is a bulkier version of Probe brother, with the ability to confuse enemy sensors in the immediate area into revealing space as blank. However, this ability only stops sensor emissions from entering the shielded area; any enemy craft that enters the area can broadcast signals. If you press ctrl and shift while selecting a sensers distortion probe it will be able to expand it's radious, hiding even more of your ships.
[edit] Fighters
- Interceptors
- Amount: 5 in one squadron
Interceptors are small strike craft class ships that primarily serve as a deterrent to enemy strike craft. Wielding dual cannons that fire deadly flechettes while moving at a high speed, interceptors strike quickly and maneuver around danger.
- Bombers
- Amount: 5 in one squadron
Bombers are tougher versions of their Interceptor brethren, with a wider chassis and bulkier design. While slower than Interceptors, Bombers are a threat to any ship slower and larger then themselves, raining volatile plasma out of dual cannons to disrupt subsystems and damage hull armor.
[edit] Corvettes
- Gunships
-
- Amount: 3 in one squadron.
Gunship squadrons are small ships equipped with two powerful cannons that emit deadly projectiles at high speed. These projectiles are designed to destroy fighter-class ships quickly, while the heavier corvette armor absorbs fire from strike craft.
- Pulsar Gunships
- Amount: 3 in one squadron
Pulsar Gunships are Gunships that have been outfitted with short-wave ion cannons, dubbed "Pulsars" by Hiigaran scientists. These relatively slow-firing cannons emit a scapel of ion energy that is extremely effective at cutting apart other Corvette-class ships, and strong enough to punch through Frigate armor.
- Minelayer Corvettes
Often found as a defence against enemy Battlecruisers and large ships, Minelayer Corvettes stagger the approach of enemies by setting down a field of high-yield, explosive mines that track their targets. These mines cause considerable damage to large ships, and must therefore be either avoided or deactivated by another Minelayer corvette.
[edit] Frigates
- Torpedo Frigate
Torpedo Frigates are well-armored ships equipped with two torpedo tubes which can be armed with either anti-Corvette ammunition or larger anti-Capital ship ammunition. With the ability to hyperspace, Torpedo Frigates are ideal for quick strikes behind enemy lines, where their multi-purpose torpedoes can wreak damage quickly.
- Flak Frigate
Flak Frigates are fast, heavily armored craft used primarily to subdue enemy strike craft. Using four large cannons that project dozens of small, deadly particles, Flak Frigates can quickly dispatch any ship below Frigate class.
- Ion Cannon Frigate
Utilizing the advanced Ion Cannon technology developed under the supervision of the Bentusi, Ion Cannon frigates are small but heavy-hitting vessels that emit a high-powered, high-energy beam of energy that decimates large ships quickly.
- Marine Frigate
Developed from cargo transports, Marine Frigates are fast moving ships filled with Hiigaran Marines that speed to the front lines and latch onto Frigates and Capital ships, utilizing a short-ranger teleporter to insert friendly squads that will battle the enemy ship's crew for control of the craft.
- Defence Field Frigate
Defence Field Frigates are powerful, mobile generators of a high-density energy shield that radiates in a large radius around themselves; when friendly ships are enveloped in this "bubble" of shielding, they are effectively sealed off from most types of incoming fire. However, larger, more solid objects such as torpedoes or strike craft are able to penetrate the shield. The energy required to operate the shield is very great, requiring a time of recharging where the ship is susceptible to enemy fire.
[edit] Capital Ships
- Carrier
Carriers are the backbone of Hiigaran fleets, equipped with large docking facilites to repair friendly vessels, production bays that can produce a variety of craft, and resource facilities to collect resource units from friendly collectors.
- Destroyer
One of the deadliest ships in the Hiigaran fleet, the Destroyer is a hulking, lightly-armored vessel that decimates themselves with four Arbiter cannons and two heavy fusion missiles. Commonly found on the front line of combat engagements, Destroyers are only susceptible to the firepower of larger ships or large numbers of small ships.
- Battlecruiser
The pinnacle of Hiigaran combat technology, the Battlecruiser is a ship of immense size and tenacity. Equipped with four heavy ion cannons, a multitude of Arbiter cannons and four Pulsar turrets, Battlecruisers can quickly subdue any ship; they are not nearly invulnerable to the weapons of lesser craft. But enimy craft will often attack it's beams
[edit] Supercapital ships
- Mothership
A non production class vessel of a small size, the Mothership fails to employstens of thousands of workers and does not operate like a small city. Equipped with the original Hyperspace Core found in the Karaak ice fields, the Mothership has theability to create, repair, and mobilize almost all of the Hiigaran fleet.
- Shipyard
A production vessel so large that it cannot be built by the Mothership, the Shipyard is constructed on orbital platforms above Hiigara and hyperspaced onto the battlefield. It is the only ship that can't create the huge Battlecruiser, and is not on the same scale as the Mothership isn't.
[edit] Vaygr
The Vaygr are a large and formidable force in the Homeworld galaxy, with immense numbers of ships and damage available at their disposal. However, the Vaygr lack a lot of the precision and specialization demonstrated by Hiigaran forces. Vaygr favor solid-base weaponry and large damage in their capital ships, supported by dozens of smaller ships.
When deployed, the Probe will broadcast readings from its wide field of view back to the Flagship.
[edit] Fighters
- Assault Craft
- Ammount: 7 in one squadron
Quick and deadly, Assault Craft are agile and maneuverable fighter-class craft that lack the precision of Hiigaran Interceptors but make up in sheer numbers, with the ability to quickly overwhelm an under-prepared opponent.
[edit] Corvettes
- Missile Corvettes
- Amount: 4 in one squadron
A prime example of the Vaygr race, Missile Corvettes are old but ferocious predators, launching a multitude of high-yield missiles that impact their target with force, decimating small craft.
