Materva
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Materva is a soft drink trademark that was originally produced in Cuba. It is a mate drink, produced with herbs imported from South America.
Until Fidel Castro took power in Cuba in 1959, Materva and Cawy, another popular Cuban soft drink, had a market battle somewhat similar to that of Coca Cola and Pepsi. When Castro took over, most bottling structures in Cuba were taken over by the state.
As time would have it, Cawy, now established in the United States, would buy over the Materva brand. Materva is very popular in South America, and it is also popular among Cubans and other Hispanics in the United States.
Materva also has a diet brand, Diet Materva mate.
