Matthias Herget (born November 14, 1955 in Annaberg-Buchholz) is a former German football player that has also worked as manager.
Matthias Herget played in 237 Bundesliga matches (26 goals) for VfL Bochum and Bayer 05 Uerdingen, showing up in 39 internationals (4 goals) for West Germany in between 1983 and 1988. He was part of the squad of the West Germans for the 1986 FIFA World Cup, playing just in the final first round tie against Denmark (0-2) at Querétaro's Estadio La Corregidora. On call for the 1984 UEFA European Football Championship, the former midfielder and striker was the regular sweeper of Franz Beckenbauer's team at the 1988 UEFA European Football Championship.
In his managerial career he had spells at lower league clubs such as SSV Buer, Eisbachtaler Sportfreunde 1919 e.V. and 1. FC Bocholt.
