Metropolitan Police F.C.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Metropolitan Police F.C. are the football club of the Metropolitan Police Service, although in recent years there has been a relaxation in the rule that players had to be serving members of the police force. They are currently based just outside of London in East Molesey, Surrey. They were formed in 1919 and joined the Spartan League in 1928. They played in the Metropolitan League from 1960 to 1971 and were then in the Southern League from 1971 to 1977. They joined the Isthmian League in 1977 and are currently in the First Division South of that League. They have reached the First Round Proper of the FA Cup three times in their history - in 1931/32 lost 0-9 away to Northampton Town, in 1984/85 lost 0-3 away to Dartford, and in 1993/94 lost 0-2 away to Crawley Town. They reached the Semi-Final of the F.A.Amateur Cup in 1933/34 losing 0-2 to Dulwich Hamlet at Wimbledon. They have also reached the 2nd Round of the F.A.Trophy in 1989/90 and the Quaerter Finals of the F.A.Vase in 1994/95.
