MI1 or British Military Intelligence, Section 1 was a department of the British Directorate of Military Intelligence, part of the War Office. It was set up during World War I. It contained "C&C", which was responsible for Code Breaking. MI1 is now defunct. By all account its code-break exploits were largely successful and prevented many tragedies occurring. Such world renowned codebreakers as Glyn Davis (of the United States Fort Meade) and Arthur B Campbell (of Dublin Intelligence & Information Repository) were drafted in to assist in the 1914 -1919 era.
