Miller Place is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York, United States, on the North Shore of Long Island. The population was 10,580 at the 2000 census.

[edit] Record-Setting Badminton Team
Miller Place has garnered some renown for being the home of the Miller Place Panthers High School badminton team, which has earned recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the longest winning streak in team sports history. "The Streak" began in the spring of 1973 and came to an end on April 12, 2005, when the Panthers were defeated in a match by Smithtown High School, 10-5. The Panthers did not lose a single match over a 32-year span that encompassed 504 consecutive victories. At the end of the 2006 season they are 530-1.

Miller Place is located at GR1.
(40.946624, -72.993087)According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 18.7 km² (7.2 mi²), all land. except for a small pond opposite the North Country Road Middle School. The area is hilly in some areas but has good grass and trees in most places because much of Miller Place was farm land before the population on Long Island grew.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 10,580 people, 3,397 households, and 2,833 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 566.6/km² (1,468.1/mi²). There were 3,512 housing units at an average density of 188.1/km² (487.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.76% White, 0.43% African American, 0.19% Native American, 1.35% Asian, 0.49% from other races, and 0.78% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.20% of the population.
There were 3,397 households out of which 46.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.0% were married couples living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 16.6% were non-families. 13.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.10 and the average family size was 3.42.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 30.2% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 97.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.4 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $80,455, and the median income for a family was $87,656. Males had a median income of $58,887 versus $37,091 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $27,895. About 1.0% of families and 2.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.6% of those under age 18 and 2.2% of those age 65 or over.
