[edit] Background
Shadow was born to hippie parents in a "financially challenged" neighborhood in North Minneapolis, Minnesota. Shadow taught herself how to play three instruments (guitar, keyboard & violin).
[edit] Career
By 1999 Shadow was opening for artists like Pink. In 2000, Futuristic Records released her single "Kiss," a song she'd written and recorded in English, French and Spanish. Within weeks, the song had become a runaway hit in the American Midwest, remaining in the Top 10 for over 17 weeks.
[edit] Pro Wrestling
One of her shows caught the attention of then-upstart wrestling company NWA:TNA. Shadow started as a backstage announcer, and later became a heel valet with a rich girl gimmick for Erik Watts, her on-screen love interest. Later Locks broke up with Watts and Abyss joined her, to protect Locks from Watts. Goldy had Abyss wrestle Watts where her money was put up for grabs against Watts' contract. Abyss won and she sold the contract to bring in Alex Shelley. Goldylocks and her new boyfriend "Baby Bear" (Shelley) went on to claim more contracts in match, using Abyss (who was treated as “extra luggage”) they claimed Sonny Siaki, D-Ray 3000 and Shark Boy. In tag matches Locks would have Abyss do all the work, then tag in Shelley so he could get the pin. When Watts returned to TNA, a match was set up with Watts, Sonny Siaki, & Desire vs. Abyss, Goldylocks, & Shelley. Abyss turned on Goldylocks in this match, and finally left her. Goldylocks left TNA shortly after, and turned her attention back to music.
