Moraine is a city in Montgomery County, Ohio, United States. The population was 6,897 at the 2000 census.

Moraine is located at GR1.
(39.695650, -84.227677)According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 24.2 km² (9.3 mi²). 23.5 km² (9.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it (2.89%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 6,897 people, 2,855 households, and 1,818 families residing in the city. The population density was 293.6/km² (760.3/mi²). There were 3,127 housing units at an average density of 133.1/km² (344.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 89.53% White, 6.23% African American, 0.43% Native American, 2.00% Asian, 0.51% from other races, and 1.29% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.41% of the population.
There were 2,855 households out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.0% were married couples living together, 14.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.3% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the city the population was spread out with 25.4% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $34,341, and the median income for a family was $41,792. Males had a median income of $35,133 versus $23,994 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,880. About 6.8% of families and 9.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 11.6% of those under age 18 and 6.1% of those age 65 or over.

Moraine is served by a Council-Manager form of government, where a seven-member City Council appoints a professional City Manager, who serves as the administrative head of the City.
The City Council of Moraine, Ohio consists of 7 members. A Mayor and two Council Members-at-Large are elected by the entire city, while four additional members of Council are elected to represent each of four wards. The Mayor presides over meetings of the Council as Chairman, and may vote as a member of Council, but has no Veto.
Moraine has a municipal income tax of 2%.
[edit] Ellerton Cemetery
The City operates Ellerton Cemetery, a 5-acre site located on Union Road. The Cemetery was opened in 1815, and still conducts burials as of October 2006. Due to its association with the adjacent Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, the cemetery is on the National Register of Historic Places[1].
