From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Route 48 is an east-west state highway in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is a short route from Carneys Point at the intersection with Wiley Road (U.S. Route 40) to Penns Grove at the intersection with Virginia Avenue (U.S. Route 130). It is known as East Main Street from Virginia Ave to DuPont Rd, and from DuPont Rd to its terminus at Wiley Rd as the Harding Highway.
Until the Delaware Memorial Bridge opened, there was a ferry which connected this route to Delaware route 48. [citation needed]
