State Route 166 is an east-west state highway in the northeastern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. Its western terminus is at U.S. Route 6 just over 3 miles northeast of Chardon, and its western terminus is at State Route 534 about 5 miles west of Rock Creek; Footville-Richmond Road continues east.

- 1924 – Original route established[2]; originally routed from 3 miles northeast of Chardon to North Madison along its current route to 10 miles northeast of Chardon, and along current State Route 528 from 10 miles northeast of Chardon to North Madison[3].
- 1941 – Rerouted from 10 miles northeast of Chardon to 5 miles west of Rock Creek along the former State Route 522 alignment (this alignment was unnumbered before 1938); from 10 miles northeast of Chardon to North Madison certified as State Route 528[3].
