Pastures of Plenty
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Pastures of Plenty" is a 1941 composition by Woody Guthrie and one of his generally accepted masterpieces. Describing the travails and dignity of migrant workers, it's evocative of the world described in John Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath". Performances by modern interpreters, including Odetta, Dave van Ronk, Paul Kelly and Solas, to name just three, reveal this to be, both musically and lyrically, perhaps Guthrie's most powerful and eloquent work.
