Paul Avion (sometimes aka Pablo Brazil, born Quito, Ecuador, March 3), is an American songwriter, singer and writer.
Raised in New Orleans, he moved to Los Angeles' Silver Lake neighborhood in 2002. In 2003, he released his first EP, Story of Life, recorded by Ben Mumphrey, producer of The Pixies' frontman Frank Black.
Other musical collaborations include Tanya Haden (who has played with the Silversun Pickups and was recently wed to comedian Jack Black), Shana Levy, Nick Lucero (Queens of the Stone Age), Korel Tunador (most recently on tour as a backing musician for the Goo Goo Dolls) and Scott Benzel (Machines of Loving Grace; Plug Research).
A new EP, Pop Music United, produced by Scott Benzel was released in late-2006 (although the album artwork features a fanciful copyright notice of the year 2685), featuring cello and vocals by Tanya Haden, drums by Nick Lucero and bass by Korel Tunador.
Set in the year 2685, Pop Music United deals partially with a future world in which world peace is declared ("War is Over: Resolution Year 2685") and where advances in biotechnology have resulted in a world of eternal youth (see EP artwork at official website).
The official website also describes Paul Avion as "the international pop icon of the year 2685."
Paul Avion is also credited with the invention of the pataphor, an extended metaphor based on Alfred Jarry's science of pataphysics.
