Paul Sidon

Paul Sidon was a Communist politician in Manitoba, Canada. In January 2004, he challenged Darrell Rankin for the leadership of the Communist Party of Canada - Manitoba.
Sidon works as an overhead door mechanic in the Transcona region of Winnipeg, and is also a foreign-languages student. He has been involved in politics since 1996. In 1999, he became a member of Manitoba's Cuba Solidarity Committee but no longer a member.
In the provincial election of 1999, Sidon ran for the CPC-M in the riding of Transcona, receiving 56 votes out of 8798 cast. He also ran for the Communist Party of Canada in the federal election of 2000, receiving 110 votes in the riding of Winnipeg North--St. Paul.
In January 2004, Sidon challenged Darrell Rankin for the leadership of the CPC-M. He received only 21% delegate support, against 79% for Rankin.
Sidon ran in the riding of Elmwood--Transcona in the federal election of 2004, receiving 74 votes of 29,278 valid ballots.
A few months after the election, Paul Sidon resigned from the party.
