Paularo is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 110 km northwest of Trieste and about 50 km north of Udine, on the border with Austria. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,897 and an area of 84.3 km2.[1]
The municipality of Paularo contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Casaso, Dierico, Misincinis, Salino, Ravinis, Chiaulis, Castoia, Villamezzo, Villafuori, Rio, Cogliat, Lambrugno, Tavella, and Trelli.
Paularo borders the following municipalities: Arta Terme, Dellach im Gailtal (Austria), Hermagor-Pressegger See (Austria), Kirchbach (Austria), Kötschach-Mauthen (Austria), Ligosullo, Moggio Udinese, Paluzza, Treppo Carnico.
