Perap (ペラップ Perappu?) is a recently-revealed Pokémon that is scheduled to appear in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on the Nintendo DS. It was revealed alongside Tamanta and Buoysel. Perap is also set to appear in the 9th movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea: Manaphy, as the main antagonist’s Pokémon companion.[citation needed] Perap will also be in a Pokémon short film called Pokémon Mischievous Island along with Buoysel.
The Japanese name “Perap” when translated is believed to be based on the word “parrot” and the word “rap”, the latter likely indicating its musical appearance. Its name could also come from the Japanese word "perapera", meaning fluent in languages, mainly because parrots are known to easily pick up the human language. This name is also a homophone for the speculated English name Parrap, which is a palindrome.

[edit] Appearance
Perap is a colorful Pokemon, obviously based on a parrot or possibly a songbird, whose black head resembles a musical eighth note. Its black tail has small sphere on it similar to the rod of a metronome.
[edit] In the video games
Perap will be one of the many new Pokémon that will be in the Nintendo DS games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
Perap's signature move is Blabber, which causes Confusion in the opponent. The player may use the DS microphone to record speech for this move (which makes it the first customizable Pokémon attack). It also knows Peck and Sing.[1]
[edit] In the anime
Perap made its anime debut in a Battle Frontier Episode titled "Perap and The Pokémon Comedian" as well as the 9th movie.
[edit] In other media
Perap made an appearance in the Trading Card Game half-deck promoting the 9th movie.
