Phoenix (boat)

The Phoenix, built by John Stevens in June 1809, was the first steamboat to sail the open ocean, from New York to Philadelphia. Her captain at that occasion was Moses Rogers, who also was the captain of the Savannah the first United States steamer to cross the Atlantic. Robert L. Stevens, also accompanied Rogers on that occasion.
