Portland Tribune

The Portland Tribune is a free newspaper published twice weekly (Tuesdays and Fridays) in Portland, Oregon with a distribution of about a 120,000 papers. It was founded in 2001 by media magnate Robert Pamplin to be a competitor and counterpoint to the Oregonian, the city's only daily newspaper, as well as a moderate counterpoint to liberal alternative weeklies Willamette Week and the Portland Mercury. It is the flagship newspaper of the Pamplin Media Group of community newspapers in the Portland metropolitan area. Pamplin Media Group also owns and operates the talk show format radio station KPAM. The combined resources of the Pamplin Media Group is the second largest news gathering organization in Oregon.
The paper deals almost exclusively with issues local to Portland and the state of Oregon. It features continuing columns by Phil Stanford and Dwight Jaynes. The paper is also known for its extensive coverage of local high school, college and pro sports teams with concentration on the NBA and Pac-10.
