- Mauritania, Nigeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Oman,
- Syria, Iraq, Iran (Kavir desert), Yemen
Type locality: Yemen
Psammophis schokari aegyptius has been elevated to species status.
