Queen Street Mall, Brisbane

The Queen Street Mall is a mall in the centre of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Originally a part of Queen Street, the mall was closed to traffic in 1982. The mall is named based on the street is resides on, Queen Street, which in turn was named after Queen Victoria; Queen Street ends at the Victoria Bridge.
The Queen Street Mall is lined with retail outlets and smaller shopping malls, including the Wintergarden, Broadway on the Mall, Queens Plaza, Brisbane Arcade and The Myer Centre.
Beneath the Queen Street Mall and The Myer Centre is the Queen Street Bus Station.
Management of the mall is covered by The Local Government (Queen Street Mall) Act, a state government act, which also originally granted the Queensland Police specific powers within the confines of the mall. However, these powers have been repealed with the introduction of the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act.
