"Red Hill Mining Town" is the sixth track from U2's 1987 album, The Joshua Tree.
"Red Hill Mining Town" was supposed to be the third single for the Joshua Tree album. However, the band later realized they would be unable to play it live every night (since the notes were too high for Bono). Consequently, "Where the Streets Have No Name" was released instead. The music video for the song, directed by Neil Jordan, was never released.
Bono has said that the song is about the 1984 mining strike and its strain on relationships at the time.
