Rhythm King Records

Rhythm King was an independent record label of the late 1980s and early 1990s that was run by Martin Heath. Initially specialising in dance, rap and house music (hip-house), Rhythm King expanded it's focus to encompass rock and indie bands such as The Sultans Of Ping FC.
Originally starting out as an offshoot of Daniel Miller 's Mute Record label in the mid 80s, Rhythm King linked a deal with Sony's Columbia Records label for such acts as Bomb The Bass and The Sultans Of Ping FC in 1991. After the Columbia deal expired Rhythm King signed another deal with BMG's Arista Records, however the label was closed down and folded into the main Arista concern when Martin Heath became head of the label. In the 2000s Martin Heath, started the Lizard King label that featured The Killers, until a boardroom battle split the label.
