Riedlingen

Riedlingen is a town in the district (Kreis) of Biberach, Baden-Württemberg, in the south-west of Germany. It is situated on the Danube. It has about 10,000 inhabitants and is 750 years old.

This year (2005) there are a lot of parties because Riedlingen has its 750th birthday.

In Riedlingen there are also a lot of different clubs, for example the football club TSV Riedlingen which plays in the German "Kreisliga A" or the carnival group called "Gole". Riedlingen also has an old town centre with an old town wall and a lot of old and very exciting, historical houses and buildings. The biggest companies in Riedlingen are the companies called "Silit" and "Blank". They are very important for the town, because a lot of the inhabitants work there. The river Danube is also important for the town, because it flows through the city centre of Riedlingen. Around Riedlingen there are six more little villages, called Neufra, Daugendorf, Pflummern, Zwiefaltendorf, Zell and Bechingen. They are also parts of Riedlingen but they have only between 150 and 900 inhabitants. Riedlingen is in the district of Biberach which has about 30,000 inhabitants and is about 30 kilometers away from Riedlingen. For the young people there is a special pub, called "Bollwerk". There is always a good atmosphere and the people who were there are always very friendly and happy, if a party is there. You find the pub in the town centre near the town wall, directly in a corner. If you want to go for a trip in the area around Riedlingen you can go for a walk to the "Österberg" or you can go cycling on the special cycling ways around "Oberschwaben".

The famous German writer Ernst Jünger died at the Riedlingen hospital on February 17, 1998, at the age of 102.
