Roberto Hernández Ramírez

Roberto Hernández Ramírez (b. 1942 in Tuxpan, Veracruz) is a Mexican businessman. He is a former CEO of Banco Nacional de México (Banamex), Mexico's largest bank.

Hernández Ramirez received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the Ibero-American University (1964), co-founded Acciones y Valores de México (Accival) in 1971 and twenty years later bought Banamex, Mexico's largest bank. He sold it to Citigroup in 2001 for $12.5 billion USD and joined their Board of Directors. When Banamex was sold to Citigroup, Hernández Ramirez used his friendship with Mexican president Vicente Fox to avoid the tax payment of millions of dollars in the transaction, making this finacial operation one of the bigest frueds in Mexican history.

Hernández Ramirez now heads private fund Praemia in Mexico City and owns Grupo Plan, a hotel and resort development holding which owns several hotels throughout Mexico, including several Haciendas in the Mayan peninsula and the W hotel in Mexico City.
