Robot Maker
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Robot Maker is a program designed by GStick Games, and is currently in development of its 3rd version. The program was somewhat popular at the Game Maker Forums when it was released. The program is an introduction into programming, allowing the use of Drag And Drop type actions and events that Game Maker (GM) allows for beginners to use. You would program a robot, in a pre-designed environment on your computer, within the program.
[edit] History
Robot Maker started off back in 2004 with version 1. The original had very few actions, and only a few events. The program was somewhat popular, with a few good posts to its topic. But, no matter how popular it was for being a good program, it was still known by a lot of people at the Game Maker Forums (GMC). The first version had a few bugs, that even spread into the second version. Version 1.2 was released soon after, that included a few minor upgrades in the program. Nothing could be saved, so you had to either write down or memorize your robots.
But in version 2.0, that changed. Still in-edit robots could be saved into a .rmf (Robot Maker File), and a few actions and events were added, as well as a nice hiding feature, that would hide the actions and events when you ran your robot. When 2.0 was released, the program gained even a little more notice. But, it still included those bugs. One really noticeable bug was the "Event Block Bug", which would overlap and mess up the number of Actions the robot read, and when. Another bug was that most of the time, save files wouldn't work correctly. Both of these problem was meant to be fixed in version 2.2, but that never happened. Version 2.2 only added somewhat useless features, and the saving was still never fixed. But, version 2.2 is at Games Showcase, at has achieved 823 downloads as of October 27, 2005.
Version 3 is the next version to come, and will fix all of the bugs, and is meant to include a lot of new features, and is being completely redesigned. More info can be found Here.
