[edit] Description
Seiryu is God of the East, presiding over the spring season. It is also thought to be the incarnation of Wood in the Five Elements of Feng Shui, and thus associated with the color blue/green of the five primary colors. In Chinese mythology, it is usually portrayed as a fearsome and powerful Dragon but also considered just, benevolent and bringer of wealth and good fortune.
He is one of the Four Beasts/Ssu Ling (the other three are Byakko, Suzaku and Genbu).
[edit] Symbol
Considered to be one of the four emblems of royalty in China. The Dragon is a symbol of authority, associated with the Emperor of China. This symbol of the Dragon is sewn only on the robes of the Emperor.
[edit] Karate
In the Meibukan style of Goju-ryu Karate, Seiryu is one of five katas created by Dai Sensei YAGI Meitoku.
