[edit] History
Born in 1976-77 as the Edmonton Crusaders, the franchise was transferred to Sherwood Park after two unspectacular seasons in the provincial capital. While the Crusaders have occasionally flirted with success, particularly in the mid-1980's, the franchise has generally been an also-ran throughout it's 25+ year history.
On February 20, 1980, Crusaders captain Trevor Elton collapsed and died following a routine, clean, body check in a game against the St. Albert Saints.
