Silsoe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Silsoe is a small village in Bedfordshire, England. It can also refer to the hereditary title Baron Silsoe; for example, David, 2nd Baron Silsoe was generally known as David Silsoe, not by his family name.
Silsoe is also home to the raving alcoholic and local trouble-maker Joe Dunne. Joe can regularly be seen roaming the quiet streets of Silsoe, tripping over a few hedges and causing a raucous. Joe also leads the local darts championships, not for winning the championship that is, but for leading the way in managing to hit the opposition with the darts instead of the actual dart board. Joe will remain in many of the locals as a true icon, someone that all alcoholics can look up and aspire to be. Yes, Joe Dunne is truly all in a class of his own and will remain in the chronicles of Silsoe for many a day to come.
Silsoe, formerly the location of the Silsoe Research Institute, a BBSRC-funded body, is now probably best known as the home of the Cranfield University Silsoe campus, a university specialising in science and technology.
