Simon Marks

Simon Marks, (July 9, 1888 – December 8, 1964), was a British Jewish businessman.
Marks was born in Leeds. In 1907 he inherited a number of "penny bazaars" from his father, Michael Marks, which had been established with Thomas Spencer. With the help of Israel Sieff, he built Marks & Spencer into an icon of British business.
Marks was knighted in 1944 and made 1st Baron Marks of Broughton in 1961.
