Specialty Records
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Specialty Records was an American record label. It was originally launched as Juke Box Records in 1946, but later renamed by its owner Art Rupe. Specialty is noted for the rhythm & blues, blues, and early rock & roll music recorded by the label. Specialty also had two music publishing companies, Venice Music for BMI licensed songs and Greenwich Music for ASCAP licensed songs, as well as a sister label, Fidelity Records. Specialty Records was sold to Fantasy Records in 1991 which was, in turn, acquired by Concord Records in 2004.
