Spittal an der Drau

Spittal an der Drau is an Austrian town, located in the western part of the Austrian federal state of Carinthia, and the administrative center of the federal state's largest district, Spittal an der Drau. Spittal has a population of about 16,000 people.
In the town centre lies Schloss Porcia, considered one of the most beautiful renaissance castles in all of Austria. At Schloss Porcia there is an annual festival for classical comedies (Komoedienspiele Porcia). Spittal's Mayor is Gerhard P. Koefer of the Austrian Socialdemocrats.
