From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Stacy Clark (b. September 21) in Buffalo, New York is a singer, songwriter, and guitar player. With only 1000 blood platlet count, Clark was diagnosed in 1998 with an autoimmune disease, ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia). The normal blood platlet count is between 100,000 to 300,000; under 30,000 the body is considered to be bleeding to death. After a life saving blood platlet transfusion and a series of iv treatments, Clark found herself in remission. After a bone marrow test result came back negative for cancer, Stacy was on her way to a year recovery. Because of this life changing experience, Clark found a need to make a difference and in 2005 co-founded the program Music Saves Lives (MSL) with manager Russel Hornbeek. She is the programs official spokesperson and her music is featured on its music compilations that are distributed nationally during MSL blood drives. MSL is a program that benefits the American Red Cross and other blood banks through out the United States. This program teaches high school and college students about the importance of donating blood and registering with the bone marrow registry. Self-taught and driven, she has released two albums-- a four-song EP Unusual in 2006, a five-song EP, 2003’s Movement. She was featured in August of 2005 on MTV as an upcoming "On the Brink" artist to watch. In 2006, Stacy was the winner of the Independent Music Awards: 2006 Inland Empire Music Award for Best Out of County Artist and winner of the 2006 Southern California Music Award for Best Female Performer and nominated for Best USA Artist at the Toronto Independent Music Awards.
