Steve Gainey (born January 26, 1979 in Montreal, Quebec) is a professional ice hockey left winger/center who currently plays for the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL. He is the son of current Montreal Canadiens general manager Bob Gainey.

[edit] Playing career
Gainey was drafted in the 3rd round, 77th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. On February 16, 2004, he was traded from the Stars, to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Mike Siklenka. On November 4, 2005, he signed a contract to play for Phoenix, and has since split time between the NHL and the AHL.
