Talk:Steyr ACR
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Isn't the flechette projectile illegal per geneva treaty for military use? It is considered "unnecessarily causing excessive suffering" and thus banned, because the arrowlette bends circularly on impact and thus very difficult to remove from inside the body of the wounded. Therefore I doubt if a flechette rifle could ever participate in the US ACR competition! 195.70.32.136 20:04, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
- There was talk of banning them, but there is currently no restriction on their use. It is well documented that two flechette firing rifles (models from Steyr and AAI) participated in the ACR program. D.E. Watters 22:20, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
