Teleflip is a free service which allows anyone with emailing capabilities to send an SMS message to a cell phone.
Teleflip was founded in 2003 in Los Angeles, California. Currently, the service is limited to sending messages to cell phones in North America. To use this service, one sends an email to <Recipients Cell Phone Number>@teleflip.com. For example, 3105551212@teleflip.com; (310)555-1212@teleflip.com; and 310-555-1212@teleflip.com are all valid email addresses. Both the subject and the body of the email will be sent to the phone. Teleflip is a completely free service and has been featured in many publications such as the New York Times, PC Magazine, and the Seattle Times.
