Left Behind: The Kids is a series written by Jerry B. Jenkins, Tim LaHaye, and Chris Fabry. It is about teenagers during the Rapture, with background plots from the adult series. However, the main characters are different.
Taken from the back cover of the first book: "In one shocking moment millions around the globe disappear. Those left behind face an uncertain future—especially four kids who now find themselves alone. As the kids search for help and for answers, they are told the truth behind the disappearances. But are they ready to believe it?"

- Judd Thompson Jr. - His whole family disappeared in the Rapture. Before the Rapture he was the cool, popular kid in school and hated his family. Now he is a believer in Christ. Judd was on Rayford Steele's plane during the Rapture. Very rich. He is very headstrong but eventually changes. Falls in love with Vicki. Marries her towards the end of the series.
- Vicki Byrne Thompson - Her whole family disappeared in the Rapture. Before the Rapture she was a rebel, she took drugs, smoked and drank alcohol. She changed and is now a believer in Christ. She was asleep when the Rapture happened. Is kind to everyone. Falls in love with Judd. Marries him towards the end of the series.
- Lionel Washington - His whole family disappeared in the Rapture except for his Uncle André. André died in a fire in his apartment. Lionel is now a believer in Christ. His mother Lucinda Washington worked for the Global Weekly magazine, which is where Buck Williams worked. He cuts his arm off to escape capture.
- Ryan Daley - His mother and father died in the Rapture. One died in a explosion and the other in a car crash. He is now a believer in Christ. He was best friends with Raymie Steele who was Rayford's son. He had a dog named Phoenix. Dies in the "Wrath of the Lamb" earthquake.

- Shelly- Old friend of Vicki before the Rapture; she was babysitting during the Rapture. Shelly is now a believer in Christ.
- Mark Eisman-John's cousin who went to Nicolae High.
- John Preston-Mark's cousin, went to Nicolae High, befreinded Carl.
- Conrad Graham- Former Global Community Morale Monitor; now a believer in Christ.
- Janie McCanyon- Before the Rapture she was a dilinquent and she still was after; it took a long long time to finally realize the truth but now she is a believer in Christ.
- Melinda Bently- Former Global Community Supporter and Morale Monitor; now a beliver in Christ.
- Carl Menninger- Worked for the Global Community; was on the Peacekeeper 1 with John Preston; now a believer in Christ.
- Natalie Bishop- Global Community Morale Monitor; believer in Christ. Helped Charlie escape from GC clutches, as well as several others. Was murdered by the giliotine for refusing to take the Mark of the Beast.
- Sam Goldberg- Friend of Judd and Lionel in Petra; believer in Christ.
- Charlie- Young boy who didn't know what happened when the Rapture occurred; now a believer in Christ.Is good friends with Phoenix.
- Darrion Stahley- Found the Truth from Ryan Daley; the Young Trib Force used her family's cabin in Wisconsin as a hideout from the GC but it got burned down.
- Westin Jakes- pilot for singer Z-Van. Later co-op pilot
- Tanya Spivey - daughter of Mountain Militia leader, Cyrus Spivey; Her brother is named Ty.

- Rayford Steele - Former Pilot for the Global Community; Believer.
- Cameron "Buck" Williams- Former writer for Global Weekly; Believer.
- Chloe Steele - Rayford's daughter; Buck's wife; Believer. Head of Commodity Co-Op, which is where believers around the world get sent food and other provisions to stay alive and healthy.
- Bruce Barnes - Pastor; believer; helps the kids come to know Christ.
- Tsion Ben-Judah - Jewish Witness. Is Carpathia's main target to be killed.
- Mac McCullum - Pilot for Global Community. Flies plane for Co-Op.
- Chaim Rosenzweig - famous Israeli scientist; A.K.A. Micah a prophet of God; the one who stood up to Nicolae Carpathia.
- Hattie Durham - Was once the girlfriend of Carpathia; stood up to Leon and Nicolae.

- Chang Wong- Chinese Teenager working in New Babylon; was forced the Mark of the Beast. Mark of the Beast later removed by God.
- Josey and Tom Fogarty- cop and wife who helped the kids capture burglars after the Rapture; their kids were Raptured.
- Cheryl Tiffane- pregnant young woman from Iowa; she is giving her child to Josey and Tom.
- Colin and Becky Dial- Wisconsin couple with an underground hideout; Colin disguised as a Surpreme Commander of the GC to breakout the belivers in jail.
- Bo and Ginny Shariton, Maggie Carlson,and Manny Aguilara- escapees from GC jail.
- Mr. Mitchell Stein- Jewish friend of Young Trib Force.
- Naomi Tiberius- Works with computers in Petra.
- Gustav Zuckermandel Jr. (Zeke Jr.)-disguise specialist for the Tribulation Force.
- Marshall Jameson- leader of the Avery, Wisconsin, believers.

- Nicolae Jetty Carpathia- Antichrist; head of Global Community; Romanian; brainwashes non- believers; eventually claims that he is god when he is killed and comes back to life through Satanic possession. Thrown into the Lake of Fire at the end of the series.
- Leon Fortunato- The False Prophet; assistant to Nicolae Carpathia, Supreme Commander of the Global Community, Reverend Father of Carpathianism. Thrown into the Lake with Nicolae.
- Marjorie Amhearst- A loyal Global Community Peacekeeper.
- Dr. Neal Damosa- also has the power of brainwashing; head of Global Community Schools.
- Z-Van- lead singer for the popular group The Four Horseman. Judd saves him from death. One of Nicolae's false Messiahs.
- Viv Ivins Carpathias closest living person. No actual relation.
- Suhail Akbar Head of GC Security and Intelligence. Killed by order of Carpathia shortly before Jesus' reurn.
- Peter Mathews Head of Enigma Babylon One World Faith, a collection of most of the religions in the world except Christianity and Judaism. Killed by order of Carpathia.
