Tony Soares (born July 10, 1986 in Reading) is an English footballer who plays for Crystal Palace in The Championship. He wears the number 19 shirt and is a midfielder. His brother Louie is also a footballer, playing for Conference side Aldershot Town.
Tony Soares is acknowledged to be an exciting midfield talent amongst many football managers and pundits and has now also made his debut for the England U21 side. However, he is a heavily debated player amongst Palace fans and was often criticised during the 2005-06 season, though his form the following season improved greatly, so far having scored three goals in 13 appearances.
He came up through the Palace youth system playing in central midfield, often alongside friend Ricky Dolan, but since breaking through has been used more often on the wing for Palace, by both Iain Dowie and Peter Taylor. A position he is happy to fill, but it is evidently not his favourite.
