From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The UNC Loreleis (often called simply The Loreleis) are an all-female collegiate a cappella singing group based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The group was founded in 1981 by students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The Loreleis have performed internationally and the group's songs have been included in several compilation albums from the series Best of Collegiate A Cappella (BOCA). One of the group's most high-profile performances came on October 13, 2004, when they sang the national anthem in Yankee Stadium before Game 2 of the 2004 American League Championship Series, in which the New York Yankees played the Boston Red Sox on the way to the latter team's comeback win in that year's World Series. The group also performed the following day at Trump Tower for billionaire real-estate developer and television personality Donald Trump.
