Should the notation on the Shoals Marine Laboratory be amended to mention that it is in conjunction with Cornell University as the Cornell University article does? Additionally, how about the creation of a "New Hampshire Wildcats" article to further cover the school's sports programs, similiar to Cornell Big Red?

Assawyer, I'm confused by the description of the acerage you just added. Is it 300 acres of the core, 1100 other acres of the campus, and 800 acres of mostly open land to the west? If so, you might want to reword it slightly; I had trouble figured out, for example, if the 300 acres was part of the 1100 acres - DavidWBrooks 22:34, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

Where are the other 1,300 acres, do you know? Scattered around the state, maybe? (And it seems to me there's some redundancy about explaining the size of the campus core.) - DavidWBrooks 01:32, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

I will trim it down. The other property owned by the University includes the Kingman Farm in Madbury, the Mendums Pond Recreation Area in Lee, and others I can't think of off hand. Assawyer 02:15, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Angels In America - Tony Kushner

I have heard on more than a few occasions that Angels in America was written while Tony Kushner was visiting UNH in the mid 1980s. (In fact I remember that there was some unfounded rumor he had worked on parts of it with someone at UNH a "Kip or Chip or Something"). It is verifiable that Kushner was at UNH during the 1980s because there are pictures of plays he directed downstairs in the PCAC.

I punched in UNH expecting to be redirected to the University of New Hampshire page. Of course, I got the UNH disambiguation page. Of the three uses listed, New Hamp., Unh the former chemical abbreviation, and the University of New Haven, it seems New Haven is the only plausible alternative that anyone would arrive at the disambig seeking. I recommend we point UNH directly to this page, create UNH (disambiguation) for the disambig as it exists now, and put a note to that effect at the top of the University of New Hampshire page. I mean, the proper chemical abbreviation has been changed and should be upper and lower case anyway. University of New Haven, while UNH to those who live around it, is far less notable than New Hamp., and with a far shorter history. Maybe I'm being UNH-centric, but I think UNH should redirect through, and leave a disambig for those who are confused (lazy old-school chemists and those living in New Haven). I didn't want to change this without soliciting opinions, though. Thoughts? Have we been through this before? No comments on UNH talk page. Isoxyl 23:18, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

edit: I think this is more appropriate for the UNH disambig page, not here. I disagree with your plan : ). I know what you are getting at, but 2 points. 1. The official sports name of UNH is "New Hampshire" not "UNH" (IE when you tune into ESPN it says "New Hampshire-14 Dartmouth-7". I think this is strike one against University of New Hampshire laying sole claim to UNH. Second is that both University of New Hampshire and University of New Haven referr to themselves as UNH on their websites. (www.unh.edu) (www.newhaven.edu). Oo7jeep 13:26, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Well, of course, redirects are here solely for convenience of users. One way to address this, that I understand has been done for other articles, is too look at what percentage of hits to UNH meant to go to University of New Hampshire or University of New Haven etc. I don't know how to do this, so I'm not sure about that. However, I believe, perhaps erroneously, that most people going to UNH mean to go here. It actually doesn't matter what UNH calls itself, this is about the utility of the encyclopedia. If you look at a lot of other redirects, they are to help the reader find their information faster. If we put a for other uses of UNH, see [[UNH (disambiguation) like for many other articles, I think those few New Haveners will find their way where they need to go. And the majority (IMHO) looking for New Hamp will find their way where they want to go.... Thoughts? Others' opinions? Isoxyl 14:38, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone know how selective UNH is? What is the average GPA and SAT score do they require for admintance? Do they require ACT and SAT II as well? Zachorious 06:45, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
