University of Durban-Westville
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The University of Durban-Westville was formerly, a university situated in Westville, Durban built in the 1970's. It now forms part of the campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Known as UDW, it catered mainly for South African Indians (later for Blacks in the 1990's) as during the apartheid years there were few universities that granted non-White students a place. UDW offered degrees in commerce, law, engineering, and many sciences. Later on an indoor sports centre was built, which hosted many national sporting events. UDW was the hub of many student political rallies during the apartheid years.
