University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK), is a member of the University of Maine System. The school is located in the small town of Fort Kent, Maine. The most recent enrollment was 1100 students, and the campus comprises 52 acres.

Maine governor Selden Connor approved the act which would establish a teachers' school in the Madawaska territory in 1878.
The name was changed to Fort Kent State Normal School in 1955, Fort Kent State Teacher's College in 1961, to Fort Kent State College and finally to the University of Maine at Fort Kent in 1970.
