The municipality of Wijdemeren consists of the following cities, towns, villages and/or districts: Ankeveen, Boomhoek, Breukeleveen, 's-Graveland, Kortenhoef, Muyeveld, Nederhorst den Berg, Nieuw-Loosdrecht, Oud-Loosdrecht.

The municipal council of Wijdemeren consists of 19 seats, which are divided as follows:
- CDA - 5 seats
- VVD - 4 seats
- Dorpbelangen Loosdrecht - 3 seats
- Dorpsbelangen Wijdemeren - 2 seats
- PvdA - 3 seats
- GroenLinks - 2 seats
It is not the only municipality with three parish halls, but it is the one and only one which has a parish hall in another city (Hilversum).
