Function
From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
A function is a very important thing in mathematics. Something is a function if for every object it gives another object. For example, f(x) = x + 1 is a function, because for every x, you get a result, f(x). If you set x = 4, then f(x)=5. This function adds 1 to x. There are other functions, like trigonometric functions. In mathematical language a function can be defined as a relation or mapping from a nonempty set called domain to a nonempty set called co-domain such that for every element in domain there is a corresponding unique element in co-domain.
