Georg Philipp Telemann
From Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia written in simple English for easy reading.
Georg Philipp Telemann (b. Magdeburg, 14 March 1681; d. Hamburg, 25 June 1767) was a German composer. He wrote over 600 pieces of music, many of which were published. As publishing was expensive in those days this was quite unusual. During his life people thought he was one of the greatest composers. Today he is still well known, but he is not as original or as important as Bach or Handel. But a lot of his chamber music is great fun to play. He also wrote lots of church music, most of which is never heard now.
