Verb

A verb is a word for an action. Verbs have forms with different uses. For example, we use the past tense when talking about something that happened before now. The part of a verb in a dictionary is the infinitive. In English we often use the infinitive with the word "to" in front.
Some examples of English verbs are: to walk, to read, to write, to be. In "I often walk in the park", "walk" is the verb. But "walk" can also be a noun (a name for something), for example here: "During my walk I saw a cat." But not all nouns and verbs have the same form.
Some examples of English forms of verbs are:
- infinitive: He wants to visit his friends
- present tense: He often visits his friends
- past tense: Yesterday he visited his friends
- future tense: Maybe he will visit his friends tomorrow
- conditional mood: If he visits his friends tomorrow, perhaps they'll go to the park.
- imperative mood: Visit your friends!
