Aschen characters in Stargate

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the fictional series of Stargate SG-1, the Aschen are an extremely advanced human civilisation, and leaders of the Aschen Confederation. This is a list of Aschen characters and members of their Confederation who have appeared on Stargate SG-1.

[edit] Borren

Stargate character

Borren in 2001
Borren
Race Human: Aschen
Gender Male
Rank Ambassador
Birthplace Aschen homeworld
Television portrayer Robert Moloney
Key episodes "2001" (first appearance)

Borren was an Aschen ambassador. He was also the first Aschen encountered by SG-1 after the Volians had introduced the team to his people.

Like the rest of his race, he was void of any kind of personality or facial expression, albeit even more than his counterpart, Mollem. He also completely lacked a sense of humor and was called boring by Jack O'Neill, who harbored a slight mistrust of Borren.

Borren commenced preliminary negotiations between his people and Earth. After several hours over the bargaining table with them, he was eager to move the discussions up to the state level. He eventually greeted SG-1 and Joseph Faxon, the diplomat sent by the United States government to initiate official negotiations.

Unknown to the SGC, Borren and the rest of the Aschen plotted to conquer Earth by systematically sterilizing its population. However, SG-1 had received a cryptic warning from the future a year earlier, and Samantha Carter and Joseph Faxon began mistrusting the Aschen. After Daniel Jackson had discovered a newspaper on the Volian homeworld describing the demise of the Volian people, Carter could trick Borren into translating the headline, accidentally alerting them about the Aschen's plans for Earth.

After it became clear Carter and Faxon were on to the Aschen's deceptive plan to sterilize the population and eventually turn Earth into their next conquered world, Faxon charged at Borren and knocked him off his feet to allow Carter time to escape through the Stargate and warn Earth.

His eventual fate is unknown, after the first address his people had obtained was to the P3W-451, a planet being pulled into a black hole. [1]

[edit] Mollem

Stargate character

Mollem in 2001
Mollem
Race Human: Aschen
Gender Male
Rank Ambassador
Birthplace Aschen homeworld
Television portrayer Dion Luther
Key episodes "2010" (first appearance)

Mollem was an Aschen ambassador and influential official.

In 2001, Mollem was assigned to conduct negotiations with SG-1 and Ambassodor Joseph Faxon after the Tau'ri had been introduced to the Aschen. He greeted them aboard an Aschen Harvester on Volia, and had high hopes to include Earth in the Aschen Confederation.

However, Mollem demanded the trady was made with all the peoples of Earth, and would eventually have forced the SGC to expose the Stargate to the public. The Aschen would then share their advanced technology with Earth and help them in their fight against the Goa'uld. In exchange, the SGC would provide the Aschen with information about the Stargate network and their all ready gathered knowledge about the rest of the Milky Way.

Unknown to the SGC, Mollem and the rest of the Aschen plotted to overthrow the Tau'ri by systematically sterilizing Earth's population. However, SG-1 had received a cryptic note from the future a year earlier warning them for the Aschen, and eventually, Samantha Carter and Joseph Faxon were able to prove the Aschen's plans for Earth. Mollem realised his people's original strategy to conquer Earth had been foiled, and decided to send a biological weapon through the Stargate to the planet. Mollem also snatched the laptop computer containing the Stargate addresses from Carter and left the chamber, enabling the two to escape and warn Earth.

His eventual fate is unknown, after the first address his people had obtained was to P3W-451, a planet being pulled into a black hole. [1]

[edit] Alternate Contact

In an alternate timeline where SG-1 had visited the Aschen homeworld in 2000, the Aschen's ulterior motives were not uncovered during the negotiations. Earth was eventually accepted into the Aschen Confederation, with its population systemetically being sterilized.

In 2010 of this alternate timeline, Mollem attended the celebration of tenth anniversary of first contact with the Aschen. He was also the Aschen scientist in charge over the project to collaps Jupiter into a star. One of the Earth scientists working with him was Samantha Carter, with whom he had developed somewhat of a friendship.

By giving Carter access to the Aschen computer network, who eventually detected the decline in Earth's birth rate, Mollem was eventually responsible for exposing his people's plans to SG-1. SG-1 eventually decided to warn the past about the Aschen by travelling back through time via the Stargate.

Mollem was present at the J. R. Reed Space Terminal in Washington DC, the location of the Stargate, during SG-1's attempt to send a note back through time. He was stunned with a Zat by Jack O'Neill so that he could reach the Earth Stargate. [2]

[edit] Volians

The Volians are members of the Aschen Confederation.

[edit] Keel

Stargate character

Keel in 2001
Keel
Race Human: Volian
Gender Male
Birthplace Volian homeworld
Television portrayer Howard Siegal
Key episodes "2001" (first appearance)

Keel was a Volian farmer under the jurisdiction of the Aschen.

He was one of the few remaining Volians after the Aschen had sterilized most of the Volian population. An orphan, Keel was raised by an Aschen family and found them to be nothing more than benign and benevolent. He had, like the remaining few of his people, no knowledge of what the Aschen had done to the Volian race.

Keel was the Volian who introduced SG-1 to the Aschen after the team had visited his planet, and also the one who eventually made the Tau'ri aware of the threat the Aschen posed to Earth.

Only days after SG-1 arrived on Volia, his field was obstructed by something he called iron root emerging in the middle of his fields. He originally requested the aid of Aschen technology to remove it, but Daniel Jackson and Teal'c offered to remove it. He offered some of his best sweet water to them if they managed to remove it. Jackson and Teal'c discovered that the iron root was actually part of the remains of a Volian metropolis that had been plowed over by the Aschen. After exploring the city, Jackson discovered a library containing newspapers describing the fate of the Volians, including their sterilization by the Aschen.

The eventual fate of Keel remains unknown.
