Central Plains Region, Manitoba

Central Plains is the name given to a region in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located in the south central part of the province, directly west of Winnipeg. Its major service centre is the city of Portage la Prairie. The Trans-Canada Highway and Yellowhead Highway both run through this region. The region had a population of 47,389 as of the 2001 census. It is comprised of Manitoba Census Divisions No. 8, No. 9, and No. 10, which have a total land area of 10,656.86 kmĀ² (4,114.64 sq mi).
