Hemang Kamal Badani pronunciation (born 14 November 1976 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India) is an Indian cricketer. He has a batting average of the near 30s and strike rate in the 70s in the shorter form of the game, One Day International. In Test cricket, he has been less successful only playing four international matches with a poor average of 15.
His most famous innings was the ODI against Australia in the 2000-2001 series at Pune, where he scored his maiden century. Great things were expected of Badani and after the maiden century it did look as though he would play a great role in the middle for years to come. Sourav Ganguly, the then played Badani consistently for two more tours before which Badani's inexperience and inconsistent performances became an issue. He had a poor series against Sri Lanka in 2001, and he never really recovered from that. Time and time again, his chosen method was to take time playing himself in, but often out before he made a significant contribution. In matches, in which the team is chasing a big score, a player of this nature cannot be entertained and unfortunately he paid the price for his lenghty bad form.
