MSA-005 Methuss

The Methuss is a mobile suit from the anime series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
The MSA-005 Methuss was the first true transformable mobile suit produced by Anaheim Electronics for the AEUG under their "Project Zeta". The suit was used to test the transformation system which would later be used in the powerful MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam. Like the Zeta Gundam, the Methuss was very fast and agile in mobile armor mode. However, it was only a prototype unit and never was intended to be mass produced, so the Methuss was only armed with two beam guns, which were mounted on its forearms and six beam sabers. Nevertheless, the Methuss prototype was assigned to the AEUG flagship Argama and used first by Reccoa Londe. Afterwards it was assigned to young pilot trainee Fa Yuiry who wasn't a very good pilot. Because of this the Methuss was often heavily damaged, but luckily it was easy to repair in a short time. Despite being a lousy pilot, Fa managed to survive the Gryps Conflict. The Methuss remained in service during the first Neo-Zeon movement as well, used by Fa against the Neo-Zeon taskforce lead by Mashymre Cello. Neo-Zeon had attacked the Argama while it was berthed at the Shangi-La colony. Following the Argama's escape from Shangri-La, the Methuss was heavily damaged. Fa, torn between her duty to the AEUG and her desire to take care of then-mentally-crippled Camille Bidan, abandoned the Argama and returned to Shangri-La. The Methuss is never seen again. Presumably, it was abandoned by Fa or collected by junk scrappers.

[edit] MSA-005S Methuss Kai
While Methuss didn't perform well in actual combat, Anaheim Electronics still developed some mobile suits based on its design. The first is MSA-005S Methuss Kai ("Kai" is Japanese Kanji character "改". In English means "Modified".) which closely resembled Methuss and utilized it's speed of mobile armour mode by equipping it with a high mega cannon. The joints of Methuss Kai were also improved to solve the problem of the original's weak body. Several experimental units were built and sent to Karaba on Earth.
[edit] MSA-005K Guncannon Detector
Also developed for Karaba as artillery mobile suit suitable for use in guerilla combat., the MSA-005K uses the same frame with Methuss. It is able to take a shooting position in an instant. It's main armaments are a pair of beam cannon, with a beam gun attached to the right shoulder. Other weapons include head vulcan guns and a beam rifle, which doubles as a grenade launcher. Two units are built and dropped by shuttle to North America. While one machine is destroyed in failed landing attempt, the other is safely collected by Karaba. It was painted with red color scheme and called as Guncannon Detector by Hayato Kobayashi.
