Rodeneck (German) or Rodengo (Italian) is a commune in northern Italy, situated in the province of South Tirol at the entrance to the Pustertal valley. The population is overwhelmingly German-speaking.
Rodeneck consists of seven communities, of which Vill is the largest with an approximate population of 500; the others being Gifen (100 inhabitants), Nauders (250), St. Pauls (100), Spisses (80), Ahnerberg (40) and Fröllerberg (70).

Non-local flint and quartz fragments suggest that the area was inhabited by hunters during the middle Stone Age (5000 BC). The discovery of middle Bronze Age forts dates permanent settlement to at least 1500 BC.
The community was mentioned by name for the first time in the Actum Rotungun of 1050 as a place that made donations to the bishop. Over the next centuries, the name appears in a variety of forms; the name "Rodeneck" appeared for the first time in 1314.
At the start of the 19th century Rodeneck became an independent municipality, administered from 1822 by its own mayor. The place endured difficult times during the First World War and in the following years of fascism. In 1926, the municipality lost its autonomy and became part of the municipality of Mühlbach, winning back its independence in 1955 after a long struggle.
